Glitches

Like any game, there are always some bugs that slip through. Dual Strike has a number of interesting bugs to experience.

Blank Commander Glitch

Requires: Japanese V1.0, USA V1.0

This glitch is very simple – it places the ‘Blank Slot’ from the CO selection screen as a selectable CO. To perform it, simply select a CO in the Campaign, War Room or Survival with a blank slot in the second CO slot. Then select the CO that is in the first slot for the second slot to ‘swap’ them and have the blank slot in slot one. Start the game!

As the Blank Slot is basically a placeholder, it has no graphics or text associated with it. Any use of a CO Power, opening the CO dossier or using the CO Swap function will result in a hard freeze as the game tries to load graphics that don’t exist.

Fuel Usage Glitch

Requires: Any Version

This glitch exploits a flaw in the fuel-counting function, resulting in incorrect amounts of fuel used. When plotting a path for a unit to follow, any time the path moves in a diagonal for the final movement if the directions are inputted on the same frame, only two units of fuel are consumed for the entire movement path rather than the standard amount. E.g. moving a Fighter North-East if you press Up+Right on the same frame it will only use two units of fuel. This only can work when a unit’s pathing is moved diagonally for the final action. It can be performed on units moving in cardinal directions if you are not traveling the full distance. You can hold the two directions to use the glitch for the entirety of diagonal movement, too.

Invisible Tag Partner Glitch

Requires: Japanese V1.0

This glitch is the result of an incomplete memory initialisation when you start a new match. This allows for a CO to receive the effects of the equippable skills “Teamwork”, “Synergy” and “Bodyguard” without a second CO. When you equip the second-slot CO with these skills in the mission setup screen, exit out to the main menu and start a game with only one CO is in the team (Vs.) or can be selected (War Room 2.0x), the CO will get the effect of the tag skills despite not having a tag partner. This only works if you add the skills to CO number two in Campaign mode or War Room 1.0XP mode. The bonus can be applied in War Room 2.0x Mode and Vs. Mode.

Sonja’s Power in Powers Off Mode

Requires: Any Version

Sonja has the dubious honour of being the most powerful CO in “Powers Off” mode. Due to an oversight in the programming, the “Powers Off” option doesn’t remove Sonja’s Terrain Star Reduction effect, resulting in the only CO who has abilities in powers off mode.
