Map 26: Lost Basin

Score achieved: 300 pts, 21+ days
100-pt. time limit: 41 days
Player CO: Anybody but Kanbei or Grit
Enemy CO(s): Sami, Sonja
Skills: none
Mode: 2.5x EXP

Overview: A quick expansion phase is needed to secure the funds for a Tank
spam against Sonja. Once Sonja falls, Sami is a pushover with the funds
obtained from the HQ capture.

A firepower and movement CO is the best choice for this map. Jess is an
excellent choice, as well as Koal.

Kanbei’s deployment costs will make things difficult again with the opening
strategy.

Grit also has difficulty with his reduced direct offense; he will need to
build Artillery to fight Sonja, and Rockets are going to be needed to obtain
the power score.

Day 1:

– Build Infantry in both bases.

Day 2:

– Move northern Infantry 3N.

Sonja Day 6:

– Sonja must NOT move her Artillery in range of your northwestern base.
– It is recommended that Sonja moves her Md. Tank north instead of planting
it on her HQ.

Day 7:

– Finish capturing neutral properties.
– Move wounded Infantry 3W.
– Load APC with Infantry and move APC 3W.
– Move Tank 1E and attack Infantry.
– Move Tank 4E 1N.
– Move northeast Infantry 1E and begin capturing neutral city.

– Move southeastern base Infantry 2W 1S.

Sonja Day 7:

– Sonja’s Tank may attack your newly built Tank. If this happens, join the
wounded Infantry units to earn enough funds to build the two Tanks needed.

Day 8:

– Save here.
– Finish capturing all neutral bases.
– Move southwestern base Infantry 1W and attack Infantry.
– Join wounded Infantry with aforementioned Infantry.
– Move Artillery 1W 1S.
– Move northwestern Infantry 2N and begin capturing neutral base.
– Launch two missile silos at the cluster of Sonja’s units and hit as many
units as possible. The Md. Tank MUST be included.
– Remaining movement is at your discretion.
– Build Tank in the two northernmost bases.
– Build Infantry in the most southwestern base if possible.

Day 9:

– Finish capturing neutral city.
– Move southern wounded Infantry 2N.
– Join wounded Infantry with other wounded Infantry.
– Remaining movement is at your discretion.
– Build Tank in the two northernmost bases.
– Build Infantry in the most southeastern base.

This is the end of the detailed guide.

In the northern front, continue the two Tank spam and push your way towards
Sonja’s HQ. Move in with your loaded APC, block as many bases as possible,
and capture Sonja’s HQ with your Infantry.

You may use up to two more silos against Sonja when you deem it necessary,
such as softening a repaired Md. Tank. Obviously, it makes things easier
against Sami when you use less silos on Sonja.

In the HQ area, move Infantry into position to launch silos from the western
side. Leave one Infantry behind to launch the final silo from the eastern
side.

In the southern front, maintain the two Infantry wall focused on the
southwestern base and the plains 1S of the base. Use Infantry from the HQ
bases if necessary. When Sonja is nearly defeated, build a Rocket unit in
the most southeastern base instead of an Infantry.

When you can afford it, build Recon units in the HQ bases if you’re a
firepower/luck CO or Anti-Air units if you’re any other type of CO.

The power score is the most difficult score to achieve in Lost Basin.
Finishing the map sooner will make this easier. The best time to achieve the
power score is the day Sonja’s HQ is captured. First, make sure your SCOP is
charged, unless you chose a CO with no firepower or luck bonus included in
their powers.

Save before you do so, then destroy as many of Sonja’s
remaining units as possible. At the same time, destroy as many of Sami’s
Infantry and Mech units as possible with the stockpile of units built from
your HQ area.

Save at least two missile silos for Sami. This makes it easier to push into
her HQ area when you force Sami to join her wounded units together. Try to
target her Neotanks.

Afterwards, Sami is easily defeated with a Neotank/Recon spam. If you
haven’t achieved the power score earlier, allow Sami to gather her units for
the final annihilation.
